This weekend, we had family pictures taken up Cedar Canyon. We go up there often, it is beautiful up there, but every time we drive down the canyon I always feel a sadness and yearning. The reason for this is because about 4 years ago, we made that drive at midnight going as fast as we dared go. This was because my water had just broke at our ward camp-out and we were going to the ER. Every time I travel that road, flashbacks of sobbing comes back. I remember every turn, every breath of just hope that this baby would make it, but know that he would never be in my arms. I will never forget that night.
This weekend as we drove down the canyon, those thoughts once again came to me. The sadness came once again in waves. Then something kind of amazing happened. Just as we started to pass the turn off that we took the night that we lost Gibson, Todd and My song started playing from the CD we were listening to. As I listened to the words and what they meant to us I felt an enormous amount of peace. I thought of the two beautiful girls sitting in our back seat. I thought of the wonderful knowledge that I have about having Gibson for eternity. Then I thought of the amazing man who was at my side and all that we have gone through. I truly felt blessed to have him there to calm me and to give me strength to stand when I didn't believe I could get out of bed. Gibson has taught me so much with his passing and teaches me something new everyday! What a blessing that tragedy has become! I can't wait to hold my baby boy in my arms again and to have him for forever, and most of all to thank him for all that he does for me!
