When in situations of stress we wonder if there is anymore to give. We can be comforted to know that God, who knows our capacity perfectly, placed us here to succeed. No one was foreordained to fail. Let us remember that we were measured before and were found equal to our tasks. When we feel overwhelmed, let us recall the assurance that God will not over-program us; he will not press upon us more than we can bear.

Slept all night long!

Lily slept through the night! For the first time since she's been born, we didn't have to get up and feed her last night! She woke up a few times but I just put her binky back in her mouth and rocked her back to sleep. I was amazed! She fell asleep around 8 and then woke up right before 7. She's amazing! Yeah, I know I look great in this picture... lol jk.

When Todd Babysits...

She has great aim. She COMPLETELY missed the burp cloth but got Todd...
All the damage she created. She had a lot in her!
This is what happens when Mommy comes home! She knows what's up! I got a call from Todd yesterday while I was at work and he told me that Lily had thrown up all over him. She's been sick this week and it makes me sad to see, but I laughed really hard when I saw what she had done. This very thing has happened to me at least 4 or 5 times, but it was good to finally see it on Todd. No offense to Todd, I just hate to be the only one she chooses!

P.S. This is the first picture we got of her smiling! Yay!

Lily's Blessing Day

This is Lily in her dress. she looked like an angel. The blessing went well, but she cried through it all. She was tired and the binky wouldn't stay in her mouth, oh well.
Us together at the luncheon. I look funny in this picture, that's fine... The luncheon went great the food was delicious!

This was her at the end of the day. It had been long but it was good! She was gorgeous and we got to celebrate her life. The weather was awful the night before so some people didn't get to make it to the blessing. We missed them, but we understand as well. Snow = scary roads. We're happy to have such a beautiful baby in our lives! Thanks for being so great Lily!

Our Awesome Daughter

The other day, at work, a friend of ours wrapped Lily up like this to try to calm her down. This was her afterwards. Oh my goodness after we looked at this picture, we laughed forever! Yeah, that is why we have the cutest little girl ever!

Candids

Bundled up and ready to go. Gotta make sure the straps are under her double chin. I love how chubby she's getting, it's adorable!
He's so HANDSOME! He's holding our nephew Robbie.
So sweet! She likes to smile when she's sleeping, I'm trying to get a picture of her smiling. We got a video but I'm not sure how to post it quite yet.
Like mother like daughter... I love it when she just passes out on me like this, it's so funny!
She LOVES her swing. She just zonks out when she gets in and is super cute. That's where she hangs out when I need to take a shower.

Doctors Appt

I took Lily to the doctor today. She weighs, yes a whopping 10 lbs. 11 oz. She is now 21 inches long and is super super cute! I'll get some more pictures when Todd get's home from doing homework. But, she did get her shots today, I think I cried a little while we were there. It was AWFUL! I never want to do it again... yet in two months we'll go through it another time!

Thanksgiving

This year for thanksgiving we were at Rhonda's house. It was so much fun. During the week Lily and I were able to hang out with April, Taylor, Jeremy, and Rhonda. Todd worked all day Wednesday and had class monday and tuesday so he didn't get to hang out with them quite as much. The weekend was full of playing the Wii and visiting with family.

Thursday we ate a delicious dinner and then indulged ourselves in many pies that I made for the family. They turned out quite well and I was pretty proud of the job I did. Later on Thanksgiving the Livingston tribe came over and we all played spoons, mafia, and the infamous name game. I love the Livingstons, they are so much fun! It was so good to spend good, quality time with family for a good amount of time. It was fun to get Robbie and Lily together again and see who is bitter now. Lily wins! She's definitely getting chubby!

Friday morning, Todd and I got up and drove to Richfield. Most of my family was at my parent's house. It was CRAZY there. I swear there were about 5 adults and 20 kids. Everyone wanted to hold Lily and play with her. I was fine with that as long as they washed their hands. While we were there we played some more Wii, visited with family, and helped my dad with his Christmas Lights. Friday night Todd and I went to the Chidesters and played some Phase Ten with some old friends from High School. Lily was already in bed, so we got to slip out for a minute. On saturday I got to go to Mary Pope's bridal shower. It was one of the most fun showers I have ever been to. Congrats Mary! I think she's pretty excited about getting married and I'm so happy for her!

All in all we had a good weekend. It was nice to get home and enjoy our own home with room to spread out on our couch. Our Christmas decorations are up and we've been listening to plenty of Christmas music! My favorite time of year!

Going Private

So, I want to make our blog private. I think I have it set so that if you leave a comment it will show me your email so I can put you on my list of people allowed to see my blog. If you want to see it, please leave me a comment, even if you're a blog stalker and I even kind of know you, please leave a comment. Just because I don't like it when I'm blog stalking and I can't see people's blogs. So if I know like a member of your family or we've met a couple times or I have even just left a comment on your blog, leave a comment. But if I have absolutely no idea who you are, sorry you won't be on the list.

Cute Girl

Here are just some candids of Lily, I think she's just so adorable and I spend a lot of time during the day staring at her!Hello, I'm ready for my close up!

She's a great story teller, hehe

The Protests against the Mormons

While watching any news cast I have seen over and over again how the gays have been protesting the LDS church, a church I happen to be apart of. Each time I hear of another protest or vandalism, it makes me increasingly sad. I understand that people are angry about the government taking away their rights and all, but what about the rights of those who aren't gay? I feel that if certain laws were to be passed, they would be taking away my religious rights.
I heard someone say, concerning gays, "It's just so sad to see someone fight so hard for something, and then have it taken away from them." Can I just remind you of the beginnings of our church? There is a reason why the center of the LDS church is in Utah. It's because we were persecuted SO much, that we were forced to come here. Many people died for our church and what we stand for. I believe we have fought for what we have and we deserve to protect our religious rights. I feel that it would be sacreligious for a gay couple to come to an LDS church and demand to be married in that church. We deserve to be able to say, no we don't believe that practice and so we need to protect our family and beliefs.
I know this has been all over the place, but I just get so sad that people are targeting LDS temples for protests. If they even knew the sacredness of the temple, that would never even be an idea. I think I get so sad because I feel that these things are so sacred and that they should not be touched by the hands of the world. I know they are, but it makes me so sad to see those with such hardhearts and stiffneckedness hurting others around them. I feel like these protests are hurting the church and are giving us such an awful name. I feel like many haven't even given the church a chance, but are protesting against us. If they really were educated about what they were protesting on, I believe a lot wouldn't be protesting. Please keep our prophet and the leaders of the church in your prayers. I think it's also important to pray for those protesting against us as well!

Ode to My Husband

I just have to say, my husband, Todd has been so amazing the last little while. He has been CRAZY busy! I feel like we hardly get to see him, and when we do he's doing homework or is so tired that he just wants to sleep. I feel so bad for the poor guy! He's 1- in a bishopric, 2-taking 18 credits, 3- working 20 hours a week, 4- trying to get used to being a new dad (which entails getting up at night). Does he complain at all? NO! I love him so much and I appreciate how much he does for our family! I think he is pretty stressed out with his life right now, but I know that he is very happy with how full it is too. Even though I hardly see you Todd, I think you're the best husband and provider ever. Not to mention an amazing father! Lily and I love you and we can't wait til we're out of school and don't have to do homework every night!

Weekend in Richfield

This past weekend I was in Richfield for a few reasons. The main reason would be because my mom threw me a baby shower this weekend because she didn't get the chance to before Lily was born. Another reason is because my good friend Kacey got home from her mission as well. So obviously I wanted to see her!
Katelyn and I traded babies for just a minute. Cambree really liked to hold Lily and play with her. Sydney is so ADORABLE! Not to mention she's is twice Lily's size, but don't worry, Lily is catching up!
This is the group of us at the shower, us with all of our kids and what not. It was fun to get together and see each other's babies. It was great to see Kacey again too. I was really happy to have all of them there because it's been a while since I've seen them!
Finally we came back home to Daddy/Todd. Lily was happy to see him and Todd was happy to cuddle with her!

The Battle of the Nipples

So here is the deal... when I was getting ready for Lily to come, I decided to get the Nuk brand bottles because they had great things written on the box and they looked more like a woman's nipple and what not. Well after Lily was born we had to use the bottles which was fine. but it would take her sometimes 1.5 hours to eat. so we tried another route. with the playtex nipples, Lily only took 10 min to eat. what a difference! We have been staying up all night it seems just trying to feed her... so hopefully this will also give us more sleep! She also is suddenly eating like twice than what she used to. With that and me traveling to SLC for the weekend while trying to pump... lets just say my body isn't producing what it needs to. She won't latch onto me, and I can't pump all the time because I've been working too, so basically I'm so sad, but we've moved to formula. I'm hating the fact, but my body hasn't been helping me live up to my hopes.

Today I took Lily to the doctor. She now weighs 7 lbs. and has grown a full inch and her head has grown a full inch as well. She gained a full pound in two weeks! Go Lily! Thank goodness for those other nipples!

Such a Cutie!

Todd was trying to burp her today, and this is what she looked like. She's so sweet and so funny sometimes. She even started smiling when she was in this position, I couldn't get it in a picture though... sorry. What a joy!

Meeting Cousin Robbie

This past weekend, we took our first trip with Lily. It's was rather interesting. She traveled really well in the car and I was so happy about that! She has a new a cousin that was born on Oct. 8 to Todd's sister and her husband. We traveled to Sandy to meet him, since their ages are so close. Robbie weighs 2 pounds more than Lily does, he didn't seem to be too much bigger than her by the looks of things, but he is definitely heavier! He is SUPER cute and has much more and longer hair than she does. He's a sweet little thing and it was fun to watch them together.
Here are the two dads sporting their newborns. Lily was pretty much oblivious to what was going on.
Here they are in their Boppy Pillows. Lily was kind of fussy when we were taking pictures. They sure looked cute next to each other in their seats.

P.S. She slept 6 hours straight last night! Once I realized that I praised her and gave her LOTS of kisses!

Cuddles

Todd has officially found someone new to cuddle with. I'm not sure how I feel about this... jk. It's seriously awesome to see him with Lily and wanting to just have her cuddle up next to him. I don't think she minds either.
She fits in the palm of his hand... I think this picture shows how small she really is.

Great-Grandpa Fisher

This weekend we traveled to the good ol' town of Milford to let Lily meet Todd's Grandpa Fisher. Lily makes his 82nd great-grandchild so ya know, that's kind of important he met her. While we were there, we were looking at his list of great-grandchildren. We knew he had a great-granddaughter by the name of Lily already, but her last name is Swallow and she lives across the country and we figured it would be ok. As we looked through the list of maybe 20 there were four girls with the middle name Elizabeth. That makes sense because Grandpa's Wife, Grandma Fisher's first name was Elizabeth. So basically what we learned is, after 82 great-grandchildren, forget even TRYING to be original!

We had a good time seeing family though. We helped Nisha and Jeep drywall their new addition to their house. (And when I say we, I mean Todd) We also got to go eat with them at the diner there in Milford. It was great to visit with them and our other cousins Ryan and Jessica! It was a nice relaxing day to the end of a stressful week! Yay!

The Fisher Family

Lily likes to make this face a lot! Its fun to watch her when she's awake because she's figuring this whole thing out, sometimes she even smiles!
Welcome to my new life... do I look tired? I'm getting the hang of this!
Todd proud to be a happy Daddy! She's looking at him and making faces at him in the picture, it's kind of funny!

Labor Story

So I've been getting this question a lot so I thought I would just share what my labor story was. Todd told me not to tell anyone because they would be mad at me, so you have to promise not to be mad at me before you read this!

So Saturday Sept 27, Todd needed to do some homework so we decided to walk on to campus so he could work in his own office. Campus is literally 4 blocks away, it's very close. We walked there and were there for about 3-4 hours. We then walked back in time so I could get ready and go to the relief society broadcast. When we got home I sat down for a second, I noticed I was kind of wet. More wet than I had been regularly with the normal discharge. So I called Labor and Delivery to see if we should go in to get checked. They told me to come in and make sure everything was ok. So Todd and I got to the hospital at 6 o'clock. They had to do a couple of tests, one came back positive so they decided to admit me and that it was time to have the baby. I was freaked out because I hadn't really been prepared for that.

I was admitted at 8:30. Before they did anything they needed to make sure the baby's head was down. So they did an ultrasound but the nurse couldn't really tell what was going on so she had to call the ultrasound tech. She probably got there around 9:30. The head was down so now it was time to get an IV in and finish breaking my water. They tried 5 times to get an IV in me, the doctor even tried to get one in me. Before my water was broken the doctor checked me to see how dilated I was. I was already at a 5, I hadn't really been having any contractions... So they broke my water and then decided to give me pitocin to really start me into labor. They started the pitocin, but since I was so far dilated the doctor said I could have an epidural at any point I wanted. Once the pitocin hit, it HIT! There was absolutely no break in between contractions, it was awful! I asked for an epidural soon after. Around 11 or so the epidural guy came and gave me an epidural. After that, I didn't feel any more contractions. So honestly I may have felt labor pains for at most 45 minutes to an hour.

The nurse came in around 12:30 and checked me. I was at a 7! I was trying to sleep because I knew it was going to be a long night. The nurse came back in at 1:15 because Lily's heart rate decreased and she wanted to check to make sure I was ok. I was already complete! I started pushing around 1:30. I had asked for the mirror because I wanted to be able to see what kind of pushing did the most work, since I had an epidural and really couldn't tell... Todd didn't like that part. He had to sit down most of the time while I was pushing. He had to help with my legs since I couldn't move, but he did a great job. As soon as Lily's head came out he was kind of like a little kid. He wanted in on the action at that point. I was so happy that he cut the cord and didn't let the blood stop him. When she came out, the cord was wrapped around her neck a couple times, and that's why her heart rate decreased. As soon as they got that off, she was just fine! Trust me, her lungs were very healthy! No question about that! They put her on my stomach as soon as she was born and it was such an amazing experience! I'm glad it went so well for us and that our hopes and plans had gone through. And yes, I know it was a very easy labor I mean honestly I was only in active labor for 5 hours and I only felt a whole 45 minutes of it.

Lots O' Work

So we've really been enjoying Lily and she's so much fun! She is so adorable and has such a sweet little spirit that has really made our home a great place to be. Yet, I never realized how much work they are! I am so tired I can hardly see straight. She's doing pretty good, but she's got a cold and hasn't been sleeping well because her nose is plugged. It makes me so sad to see her not feeling well. We need to invest in a humidifier ASAP! As of now, we've just been running our dryer all day long because it just blows right into our apartment and with the steam and what not it is basically just a HUGE humidifier. If anyone has any more tips about helping her feel better, I would appreciate them. I feel completely incompetent to be taking care of this totally dependent, sweet, baby. I feel like I've been cut off from the world because I have hardly left my apartment since she was born. I guess I'm way too social... lol

First Bath

She wasn't quite sure about the whole bath thing, we had to keep the warm washcloth on her, which was almost like a blanket because she's so small.
Afterwards she liked the warm towel, I think because she was done being poked in the bath...
We finally found an outfit that fit... it was preemie size, hopefully she can get into bigger sizes soon or else she won't really have a lot to wear. It was fun to give her a real bath since her cord already fell off!

Candids

This was right before Lily came home for the first time. She was so cute in her first outfit... though it was still way big.
Lily with her beautiful eyes open, she's so cute!
Lily and daddy, he is a VERY proud father, it's so wonderful. I enjoy watching him with her.
She had to go to the doctor today, and so I dressed her up. We were having fun with that. Thanks Janell for the super cute head band!

So, she has jaundice, and that's not the most fun. She's had to be in a special light bed all day when I'm not feeding her or changing her diaper. It's been hard because people have been wanting to come visit her, and they can't hold her. Hopefully she'll only have to do that for a day or so longer. I had to take her to get her blood drawn so they could check out how the jaundice is doing. I had to hold her while they pricked her heal. I didn't like it! NO fun!

We're loving it and she is so sweet! We've finally figured out how she eats and how she lets us know how that she is hungry. It was a little difficult before hand but it was still good! She is a very happy baby as long as she's fed! :) I think we're some proud parents...

Don't get too excited

So yeah, I went to my doctor today, and well I'm only dilated to 3.5. I have walked so much, I was really surprised I wasn't any farther. So don't get too excited about me going into labor real soon. We'll have to see if I can go into labor with in this week. The nurse said if I had my baby this week she'll probably measure out to be in the higher 7 lbs. range. That sounds perfect to me! So let's really hope I go into labor THIS week, but I'm not keeping my fingers crossed!

Trying to pass the time...

So I guessed that I should probably take at least one more belly pic. This is me at 36 weeks.
Yesterday was SUU's Homecoming football game. Since I can get out now, we decided to go. Here is a shot of them playing. It was an intense game, but sadly, and yet quite expectantly, we lost. It was still fun to go out and cheer on SUU. We have also walked more this past weekend than we have I think since we got married, it's been a great weekend!
This is us watching the game! We were happy to be out and about!
Todd didn't like that last picture because you couldn't tell that we were at a football game, so he took this picture! I liked this picture though, because we were showing school spirit!
