When in situations of stress we wonder if there is anymore to give. We can be comforted to know that God, who knows our capacity perfectly, placed us here to succeed. No one was foreordained to fail. Let us remember that we were measured before and were found equal to our tasks. When we feel overwhelmed, let us recall the assurance that God will not over-program us; he will not press upon us more than we can bear.

The Battle of the Nipples

So here is the deal... when I was getting ready for Lily to come, I decided to get the Nuk brand bottles because they had great things written on the box and they looked more like a woman's nipple and what not. Well after Lily was born we had to use the bottles which was fine. but it would take her sometimes 1.5 hours to eat. so we tried another route. with the playtex nipples, Lily only took 10 min to eat. what a difference! We have been staying up all night it seems just trying to feed her... so hopefully this will also give us more sleep! She also is suddenly eating like twice than what she used to. With that and me traveling to SLC for the weekend while trying to pump... lets just say my body isn't producing what it needs to. She won't latch onto me, and I can't pump all the time because I've been working too, so basically I'm so sad, but we've moved to formula. I'm hating the fact, but my body hasn't been helping me live up to my hopes.
Today I took Lily to the doctor. She now weighs 7 lbs. and has grown a full inch and her head has grown a full inch as well. She gained a full pound in two weeks! Go Lily! Thank goodness for those other nipples!

Meeting Cousin Robbie
This past weekend, we took our first trip with Lily. It's was rather interesting. She traveled really well in the car and I was so happy about that! She has a new a cousin that was born on Oct. 8 to Todd's sister and her husband. We traveled to Sandy to meet him, since their ages are so close.
Robbie weighs 2 pounds more than Lily does, he didn't seem to be too much bigger than her by the looks of things, but he is definitely heavier! He is SUPER cute and has much more and longer hair than she does. He's a sweet little thing and it was fun to watch them together.
Here are the two dads sporting their newborns. Lily was pretty much oblivious to what was going on.
Here they are in their Boppy Pillows. Lily was kind of fussy when we were taking pictures. They sure looked cute next to each other in their seats.
P.S. She slept 6 hours straight last night! Once I realized that I praised her and gave her LOTS of kisses!

Great-Grandpa Fisher
We had a good time seeing family though. We helped Nisha and Jeep drywall their new addition to their house. (And when I say we, I mean Todd) We also got to go eat with them at the diner there in Milford. It was great to visit with them and our other cousins Ryan and Jessica! It was a nice relaxing day to the end of a stressful week! Yay!

Labor Story
So I've been getting this question a lot so I thought I would just share what my labor story was. Todd told me not to tell anyone because they would be mad at me, so you have to promise not to be mad at me before you read this!
So Saturday Sept 27, Todd needed to do some homework so we decided to walk on to campus so he could work in his own office. Campus is literally 4 blocks away, it's very close. We walked there and were there for about 3-4 hours. We then walked back in time so I could get ready and go to the relief society broadcast. When we got home I sat down for a second, I noticed I was kind of wet. More wet than I had been regularly with the normal discharge. So I called Labor and Delivery to see if we should go in to get checked. They told me to come in and make sure everything was ok. So Todd and I got to the hospital at 6 o'clock. They had to do a couple of tests, one came back positive so they decided to admit me and that it was time to have the baby. I was freaked out because I hadn't really been prepared for that.
I was admitted at 8:30. Before they did anything they needed to make sure the baby's head was down. So they did an ultrasound but the nurse couldn't really tell what was going on so she had to call the ultrasound tech. She probably got there around 9:30. The head was down so now it was time to get an IV in and finish breaking my water. They tried 5 times to get an IV in me, the doctor even tried to get one in me. Before my water was broken the doctor checked me to see how dilated I was. I was already at a 5, I hadn't really been having any contractions... So they broke my water and then decided to give me pitocin to really start me into labor. They started the pitocin, but since I was so far dilated the doctor said I could have an epidural at any point I wanted. Once the pitocin hit, it HIT! There was absolutely no break in between contractions, it was awful! I asked for an epidural soon after. Around 11 or so the epidural guy came and gave me an epidural. After that, I didn't feel any more contractions. So honestly I may have felt labor pains for at most 45 minutes to an hour.
The nurse came in around 12:30 and checked me. I was at a 7! I was trying to sleep because I knew it was going to be a long night. The nurse came back in at 1:15 because Lily's heart rate decreased and she wanted to check to make sure I was ok. I was already complete! I started pushing around 1:30. I had asked for the mirror because I wanted to be able to see what kind of pushing did the most work, since I had an epidural and really couldn't tell... Todd didn't like that part. He had to sit down most of the time while I was pushing. He had to help with my legs since I couldn't move, but he did a great job. As soon as Lily's head came out he was kind of like a little kid. He wanted in on the action at that point. I was so happy that he cut the cord and didn't let the blood stop him. When she came out, the cord was wrapped around her neck a couple times, and that's why her heart rate decreased. As soon as they got that off, she was just fine! Trust me, her lungs were very healthy! No question about that! They put her on my stomach as soon as she was born and it was such an amazing experience! I'm glad it went so well for us and that our hopes and plans had gone through. And yes, I know it was a very easy labor I mean honestly I was only in active labor for 5 hours and I only felt a whole 45 minutes of it.

Lots O' Work
So we've really been enjoying Lily and she's so much fun! She is so adorable and has such a sweet little spirit that has really made our home a great place to be. Yet, I never realized how much work they are! I am so tired I can hardly see straight. She's doing pretty good, but she's got a cold and hasn't been sleeping well because her nose is plugged. It makes me so sad to see her not feeling well. We need to invest in a humidifier ASAP! As of now, we've just been running our dryer all day long because it just blows right into our apartment and with the steam and what not it is basically just a HUGE humidifier. If anyone has any more tips about helping her feel better, I would appreciate them. I feel completely incompetent to be taking care of this totally dependent, sweet, baby. I feel like I've been cut off from the world because I have hardly left my apartment since she was born. I guess I'm way too social... lol

Candids

So, she has jaundice, and that's not the most fun. She's had to be in a special light bed all day when I'm not feeding her or changing her diaper. It's been hard because people have been wanting to come visit her, and they can't hold her. Hopefully she'll only have to do that for a day or so longer. I had to take her to get her blood drawn so they could check out how the jaundice is doing. I had to hold her while they pricked her heal. I didn't like it! NO fun!
We're loving it and she is so sweet! We've finally figured out how she eats and how she lets us know how that she is hungry. It was a little difficult before hand but it was still good! She is a very happy baby as long as she's fed! :) I think we're some proud parents...

Don't get too excited
So yeah, I went to my doctor today, and well I'm only dilated to 3.5. I have walked so much, I was really surprised I wasn't any farther. So don't get too excited about me going into labor real soon. We'll have to see if I can go into labor with in this week. The nurse said if I had my baby this week she'll probably measure out to be in the higher 7 lbs. range. That sounds perfect to me! So let's really hope I go into labor THIS week, but I'm not keeping my fingers crossed!

Sooooo I may just go into labor this weekend! lol Only because I'm going to be cleaning, walking, shopping anything that involves movement! So... my next post may just be with a picture of me and my daughter in my hands... holy cow that's awesome!

Gibson's Birthday
So today marks one year since Gibson was delivered. I can't believe it has been a whole year! It went by really fast! I thought it would be cool if I went into labor today and then Gibson and Lily can share a birthday, but I'm not feeling it so we may have to wait. All I have to say is that I'm really happy I'm pregnant again and have the opportunity to bring our little girl into the world.

Heads-up!
Ok so I'm sure you're probably getting sick of hearing about all my pregnancy problems, but I went to the doctor today and I am dilated to 2 1/2 cm and 50% effaced. My doctor is really worried about me and wants me to stay down and basically be on bed rest. I got to go get a steroid shot today, which wasn't the most comfortable thing ever, and I get to have another one tomorrow so if Lily does come early she can be able to breathe well. Once I'm at 34 weeks she won't be at such a high risk which is good, but he's going to try to get me to at least 36 - 37 weeks before I have her.. so wish me luck and pray for me and Lily!

Last Ultrasound!
I had my very last ultrasound today to see how Lily was doing! She is healthy and all is well! She already weighs 5 pounds which scares me. The nurse said she's gonna be a big baby! She is measuring a few days ahead of schedule so hopefully that means she'll come early :) or at least that's what I'm hoping! She has a lot of hair which makes me WAY excited and she's still a girl! I had her check one last time just to make sure we were buying the right color of items! We're super excited for her to get here and can't wait to hold her in our arms! Here are the pictures we got of her face, she was right against my uterus so her face looks a little smashed, and that's why. Don't worry she was giving us some funny faces!
This picture was from 23 weeks but we really liked it because it was so cute! Todd stole it and I stole it back! HAHAH! But she was sucking her thumb during the ultrasound.... we'll have to work on that when she comes out!
This was at 33 weeks, her profile!

You can tell with her nose that her face is a little smashed up against the side of me... but she still cute!
You can see her little elbow in this one... if you can tell how to look at these things ;)
